Amazfit just dropped a major firmware update (version 3.50.4.1) for the Balance 2 smartwatch. The download file is a relatively small 16.17 megabytes, but it packs a heavy punch. Zepp Health is bringing highly requested navigation and fitness tracking features directly to the wrist.

If you are downloading it, the company recommends using a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection and making sure your watch battery is above 50% before you start.

Here is a breakdown of what this new update does for your watch.

Flat pace estimates for steep hills

Running up and down hills can make your pacing data look incredibly messy. To fix this, Amazfit is introducing a feature called Equivalent Pace.

This tool looks at the steepness of the hill, your personal fitness level, and your body’s data. It then calculates how fast you would be running if the ground were perfectly flat. If you are struggling up a steep incline at a slow crawl, the watch will tell you what that same effort would look like on a flat track.

Garmin has a similar feature called Grade Adjusted Pace (GAP). However, while Garmin mostly focuses on the steepness of the terrain, Amazfit claims its version is more personalized because it factors in your own physical fitness.

Maps that work without the internet

For hikers and trail runners, the biggest upgrade is Offline Route Planning. You can now build entirely new routes or create loop paths directly inside the watch’s Topographic Map app, even if you do not have a cellular signal.

The watch can now calculate routes to spots up to 100 kilometers away. Even better, if you take a wrong turn while exploring, the watch will automatically recalculate your route to get you back on track. This means you can keep your phone safely in your pocket while exploring unfamiliar trails.

The update also adds a GPS Heading feature to the maps, which makes the map rotate and move seamlessly with the direction your body is facing.

Better syncing for multiple gadgets

If you own more than one Amazfit device—like a watch for running and a fitness tracker for sleeping—managing your data can be frustrating.

This update introduces Activity Data Fusion and Sync Back. It safely blends the data from your different devices through the Zepp app and sends the clean, corrected data back to all of them. This stops the app from creating duplicate workouts or showing confusing, mismatched health numbers.

Additionally, the watch now supports Bluetooth speakers, meaning you can link the Balance 2 to your phone and use the watch to play audio.

Upgrades for gym races and diving

Zepp Health is continuing to target serious athletes by adding HYROX Race and Stryd integration. The Balance 2 can now connect directly to Stryd running power meters to show advanced pacing metrics in real time during intense hybrid fitness races.

If you prefer the water over the gym, the update also improves the watch’s diving modes. It features better depth calculations, automatically detects when you are swimming up or down, and silences annoying phone notifications while you are underwater.

What is coming next month

This firmware patch delivers on all the updates Amazfit promised for June. Zepp Health has also teased what is coming in July. Balance 2 owners can look forward to a smoother overall software design with Zepp OS 6, better weather tracking, faster map downloads, and improved navigation alerts.
