The upcoming Xiaomi Watch 2 is set to hit the market soon, ditching the “Pro” suffix from its name. Priced at just under 200 euros, it stands out as one of the most affordable smartwatches featuring Google Wear OS and a modern Qualcomm CPU.

Available for Pre-order, Pricing and Variants

The Xiaomi Watch 2 is already listed by several retailers, with prices expected to range between 199.99 and 219.99 euros depending on the country. It appears there will be only two variants: one with a 46-millimeter-wide black case and another with a silver aluminum case, both accompanied by corresponding colored bands.

Similarities to the Pro Model

In essence, the Xiaomi Watch 2 shares many similarities with its Pro counterpart. It boasts the same 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, featuring a relatively wide bezel that may not be immediately apparent due to the design of the glass cover. The panel also includes an Always-On mode for convenience.

Powerful Performance Under the Hood

Powering the “regular” Xiaomi Watch 2 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 quad-core SoC, manufactured using a 4-nanometer process. Thanks to an extremely power-efficient co-processor, the watch promises extended battery life, with Xiaomi claiming a maximum runtime of up to 65 hours, or nearly three days.

Features and Functionality

Xiaomi Watch 2 features

Xiaomi states that the new smartwatch is water-resistant to up to 5ATM, although it’s advised against wearing it while swimming. Charging is facilitated via pins at the bottom, where you’ll also find the typical sensors found in modern smartwatches, enabling various fitness and tracking features.

Diverse Range of Functions

The Xiaomi Watch 2 boasts over 150 different sports modes, sleep monitoring, speed measurement, blood oxygen saturation monitoring, as well as standard features like heart rate monitoring and step counting. Running a variant of Google Wear OS based on Android, it comes preloaded with several Google apps, including Google Wallet and Google Maps, along with access to the Play Store for additional apps.

Connectivity Options

Bluetooth 5.2 is the sole means of connecting the Xiaomi Watch 2 to a smartphone, as there doesn’t appear to be an LTE-enabled version available for this more affordable model, a feature reserved for the Pro variants. Additionally, the watch supports Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, and GNSS for comprehensive connectivity.

In summary, the Xiaomi Watch 2 offers an impressive array of features and functionality at an attractive price point, making it a compelling option for those in the market for a budget-friendly smartwatch.
