Amazfit has significantly expanded its data sharing capabilities with Google’s Health Connect platform, offering greater flexibility and control for Amazfit smartwatch users. This enhanced integration allows users to seamlessly sync a wider range of health and fitness data directly from their Zepp app to the Android ecosystem.
Previously, while Amazfit watches could connect to Health Connect, users faced limitations in the scope of data that could be transferred. Now, users have the autonomy to choose which metrics they want to share, including granular control over data points like blood pressure, heart rate, sleep quality, and weight.
To initiate the connection, users navigate to “Profile” within the Zepp app, then select “3rd-party account linking” and finally “Health Connect.” This intuitive interface empowers users to grant comprehensive access or selectively choose permissions for specific health metrics. Importantly, these permissions are not static and can be easily adjusted or revoked at any time, providing users with complete control over their health data.
Zepp Health has emphasized the robust security measures in place, assuring users that data processing adheres to both its own privacy policy and the stringent guidelines of the Health Connect platform. However, it’s crucial to note that the current integration is unidirectional, with data flowing exclusively from the Zepp app to Health Connect.
While the enhanced integration offers exciting possibilities for users, one user has reported an anomaly with heart rate data, raising concerns about the accuracy of data transfer. Whether this is an isolated incident or a more widespread issue remains to be seen.
This significant upgrade in Health Connect integration is expected to be available across all Amazfit smartwatch models, including the recently launched T-Rex 3, further enhancing the user experience for Android users.
