Amazfit has initiated the deployment of a major new firmware package, version 3.35.0.5, specifically designed for its flagship Amazfit Balance 2 smartwatches. This update brings a host of fresh features and critical performance optimizations aimed at enhancing the overall user experience, particularly for outdoor activity enthusiasts and those who monitor their biometric data closely.

Exciting New Fitness Tracking Modes

The most notable additions in this firmware release are two specialized workout modes that significantly expand the device’s utility for specific outdoor activities:

  • Rucking Mode: A “Rucking” mode has been integrated, featuring dedicated tracking for carrying a backpack load. This is ideal for military fitness enthusiasts or those who train by walking/hiking with weighted packs, allowing for more accurate calorie burn and exertion metrics.

  • Mountain Hiking: A new “Mountain hiking” mode provides refined and accurate tracking for uphill movement, accommodating everything from gentle ascents to more demanding casual climbing and trail exploration.

Enhanced BioData Monitoring and Utility Features

Version 3.35.0.5 introduces valuable new tools for health tracking and device interaction:

  • BioCharge Trend Analysis: Users will now benefit from the addition of a comprehensive 24-hour BioCharge trend view, along with a dedicated Morning BioCharge card. This makes it easier to assess recovery status and readiness at a glance, especially at the start of the day.

  • Instant Screenshots: The update adds a practical new utility: users can now capture a screenshot of the watch display simply by pressing the crown and the lower button simultaneously. The image is then automatically saved to the paired smartphone for quick sharing or documentation.

  • Control Center Update: A new Silent icon has been placed in the Control Center, offering quick and easy access to mute notifications.

Critical Optimizations for Stability and Performance

In addition to new features, Amazfit has implemented several crucial improvements to refine the watch’s stability, power management, and user interface:

  • Activity Reminders: The logic for Activity reminders has been significantly improved, resolving instances of abnormal pushes that occurred when the companion application was not fully initialized.

  • Outdoor Run Algorithm: The power consumption for the Outdoor Run algorithm has been optimized, resulting in lower battery use during extended tracking sessions.

  • Weather Data: The Weather data source and refresh logic have been enhanced, providing users with more accurate and timely forecasts.

  • UI/UX Refinements:

    • Map icons have been improved, along with better adaptation for the crown/orientation.

    • The notification center behavior has been refined: now, clearing all notifications will immediately return the user to the primary watch face.

  • Language and Stability: Portuguese wording has been improved for better clarity and accuracy, and several other fixes have been applied to ensure better overall device stability and smoothness.

Phased Rollout Information

It is important to note that this substantial update is being released in a phased rollout. While some users have already begun receiving the firmware update automatically, others should expect to wait a few more days for the notification to appear on their device. Users are encouraged to keep their Zepp app updated and check for the firmware notification periodically.
