Zepp Health is preparing to launch its first solar-powered smartwatch, and new details have finally surfaced. Recent regulatory filings already hinted that the device was on the way. Now, references discovered inside the latest companion app give clear proof that the product is real and coming soon.
Tech site Gadgets & Wearables spotted direct mentions of the “Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar” inside version 10.7.3 of the Zepp app. The update contains new code parameters that officially confirm the name of the upcoming rugged wearable.
Special Solar Boost Mode Saves Power While Charging
The most interesting discovery in the software update is a feature named “Solar Boost Mode.” Descriptions in the app reveal that this feature helps the watch gather sun energy much faster by turning off unnecessary functions.
When a user turns on Solar Boost Mode, the display simplifies to save energy. It hides heavy graphics and shows only basic details: the current time, battery percentage, and live sunlight strength. The app will also show a quick alert if sunlight is too weak for effective charging.
By pausing background tasks and dimming the screen, the watch burns very little battery. This design lets hikers leave the watch in direct sunlight—such as during a short break on a trail—so it can quickly charge up for energy-heavy tasks later.
Double Solar Panels Could Power the Watch
The app code also includes references to two interesting inputs: “watch_face_input_power” and “case_back_input_power.”
While Zepp Health has not officially explained these terms, the names strongly hint at a dual-panel setup. The smartwatch might feature one solar panel on the front display and a second solar element elsewhere on the body to maximize energy collection.
If true, the Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar could become a serious budget competitor to high-end solar smartwatches like the Garmin Fenix 8 Solar. Official details, launch dates, and pricing are expected from Zepp Health soon.
