Suunto is getting ready to launch its next generation of GPS sports watches. Official government filings from Southeast Asia have confirmed the names of two new devices: the Suunto Race 3 and the Suunto Race 3S.
First spotted by technology outlet WearableFans, the filings show that the Finnish brand is preparing to update its popular performance smartwatch lineup.
How the Watches Were Found

The discovery started when regulatory updates appeared in Singapore’s IMDA database. The filing listed a device under model code OW266, registered simply as an “Outdoor Watch” with low-power radio features. However, the listing did not reveal the official store name for the watch.

To find more information, WearableFans checked regional database records in nearby Malaysia. A fresh approval from Malaysia’s SIRIM agency—dated August 19, 2026—officially linked model code OW265 to its final retail name: Suunto Race 3S.
By matching the filing details, model code OW266 corresponds to the standard Suunto Race 3.
What to Expect From the Race 3 Series
Suunto typically uses the “S” suffix to mean a smaller or lighter version of its main watches. This suggests the Suunto Race 3S will offer a more compact fit for smaller wrists, while the standard Race 3 will feature the larger display and bigger battery capacity.
While full specs have not been made public yet, both models are expected to build on the success of the original Suunto Race series. Key features likely to return include:
-
Bright AMOLED Displays: High-resolution screens built for easy reading outdoors.
-
Advanced Training Metrics: In-depth tracking for recovery, heart rate variability (HRV), and workout load.
-
Offline Navigation: Built-in maps for trail running and outdoor navigation.
Launch Date and Availability
Because regulatory approvals from agencies like SIRIM and IMDA usually happen in the final stages of product development, an official announcement from Suunto is expected soon.
