Zepp App 10.4.0

If you use an Amazfit smartwatch, you might notice some changes the next time you open your health app. Zepp Health is rolling out a new software update (version 10.4.0) that replaces the old “BioCharge” feature with “HybridCharge.”

While it looks like a simple name change on the surface, the update actually changes how the app calculates your daily energy and fitness readiness.

Here is everything you need to know about what is changing.

What is HybridCharge?

For a long time, the Zepp app used BioCharge to give you a daily score showing how ready your body was for exercise. It did this by looking at numbers your watch tracked automatically, like how long you slept, your heart rate, and your workouts.

HybridCharge does the same basic job, but it adds a human touch. Instead of just looking at numbers, it asks you how you actually feel.

Smartwatches are great at tracking heartbeats, but they cannot tell if you are feeling stressed at work, dealing with a headache, or just feeling extra motivated. HybridCharge tries to address this blind spot by combining the watch’s data with your personal feedback.

Key New Features: LifeLoad and Training Focus

The update introduces a few new tools to make your daily score more accurate:

  • LifeLoad Logs: This is a new section where you can quickly log how you feel each day. You can tell the app if you are feeling sick, tired, full of energy, or if your muscles and joints are sore. You can mark these feelings as low, medium, or high impact. There is even a chat-style option to make logging these notes quick and easy.

  • Training Focus: Instead of just giving you a single number for the day, the app now looks at your past week of exercise. It breaks your workouts down into strength and endurance training, helping you see if your routine is balanced or if you are focusing too much on just one type of exercise.

  • HYROX Workouts: For fans of the popular fitness competition, the update includes a new HYROX Training Library with structured workouts, as well as a Race Analysis feature to help you look back at your performance and see where you can improve.

The Catch: It is Still Rolling Out

Right now, the update is a bit of a work in progress. While the new HybridCharge features are showing up inside the phone app, many Amazfit smartwatches still display the old “BioCharge” name on their screens. Zepp Health will likely update the watch screens to match the app in the near future.

The real test for HybridCharge will be whether people actually use it. Features that require users to type in logs manually every day can sometimes feel tedious after a week or two. However, if users stick with it and log their feelings, HybridCharge could provide a much truer picture of daily energy than old-school fitness trackers. Zepp App version 10.0.4 is currently available in the iOS App Store, and it will be coming soon to Google Play for Android.
