It has been a long time since the Amazfit Balance smartwatch received a software update, but the wait is finally over. Amazfit is starting to roll out a brand-new firmware version, numbered 3.28.8.1, to users around the world. It is always a good sign when a tech company continues to support its older smartwatches, and this update gives the device a major refresh with several new health tools and performance upgrades.
A Brand New App for Tracking Energy

The biggest change in this update is a complete swap of the watch’s main health-tracking tool. Amazfit has completely removed the old Readiness app and replaced it with a brand-new application called BioCharge. The company says this new app is designed to evaluate your body’s daily energy levels much more accurately, giving users a clearer picture of how well they are recovering from workouts or sleep.
Better Controls and External Gear Support

Users will also notice that the watch is now easier to control just by twisting the side button. If you are on the main watch face, rotating this digital crown upward will instantly open your phone notifications, while twisting it downward brings up the quick settings control center. For fitness enthusiasts, the watch now links up perfectly with popular third-party accessories. You can connect a Helio Strap to track your heart rate more accurately or plug in a Stryd running pod to get deeper data during your training sessions.
Smarter Features and Important Bug Fixes

Behind the scenes, Amazfit spent a lot of time fixing small glitches and improving everyday apps. Hardcore athletes can now save up to 100 custom workout templates on the watch. Runners will also see better accuracy when tracking their speed on a treadmill. Additionally, the built-in weather app has a fresh layout that now shows nighttime weather conditions, and the sleep tracking system has been tweaked to fix a few known bugs.
The Software Rollout Will Take A Few Days
If you open your smartphone app and do not see the update yet, there is no need to panic. Amazfit is releasing this new software in phases. A small percentage of users have already started downloading the update, while everyone else will likely have to wait a few more days before it hits their specific device.
