Honor is preparing to launch the Watch 5 Pro, the latest addition to its Watch 5 smartwatch lineup. This new wearable is being aggressively marketed based on its advanced health-tracking features, most notably its claimed ability to perform ‘contactless’ blood pressure monitoring. If true, this would position the Watch 5 Pro as the first consumer-grade smartwatch to offer this capability, a major step forward from existing cuff-based methods.

Expanding the Watch 5 Ecosystem

The launch of the Watch 5 Pro follows the introduction of several models in the series. Honor originally released the Watch 5 last year before expanding the portfolio with the Watch 5 Ultra. The design of the Ultra model was noted for its striking resemblance to premium competitors, including the Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025. The Watch 5 Pro continues this expansion, offering a device that, at first glance, appears to be a conventionally styled, high-end smartwatch.

Design and Key Technical Features

Honor has initially teased the Watch 5 Pro in two distinct aesthetic styles, though both variants seem to share the same screen dimensions. One version embraces a sporty look, complete with a durable silicone watch band, ideal for active users. The alternative model features a more luxurious finish, complemented by a sophisticated leather strap. Beyond aesthetics, the core innovation lies in the health technology. Both options are confirmed to include the novel ‘contactless blood pressure monitoring’ system.

The Promise of Cuff-Free Blood Pressure Tracking

While Honor has kept the specific technical details of its blood pressure measurement technology under wraps, the company asserts that the Watch 5 Pro can deliver both single, on-demand readings and continuous blood pressure monitoring. This would eliminate the need for an external, dedicated inflatable cuff, which devices like the Huawei Watch D2 require. This breakthrough feature is positioned as a key differentiator. Furthermore, the Watch 5 Pro will also incorporate eSIM functionality for standalone cellular connectivity and Honor’s proprietary ‘Polaris’ positioning system for enhanced location services. The device is currently accepting pre-orders in China, with an announced starting price expected to be under CNY 2,000, which translates to approximately $280.
