The reveal of the smartwatch comes quickly on the heels of the recent announcement that a new model, the Connected Calibre E5, would be unveiled shortly. The circulating press photo, which depicts the watch on an athlete’s arm, was shared by the5krunner. Although the image is relatively small and low in resolution, it has already provided enough visual evidence to confirm a few crucial design elements. Most notably, it’s now certain that at least one version of the Tag Heuer Connected Calibre E5 will incorporate a rotating crown—a classic feature for enhanced physical control.

Design and Display Possibilities

The image confirms that the smartwatch features a classic round design. Beyond that, the type of display technology utilised is still speculative. While it is certainly a touchscreen, the possibility of a microLED panel cannot be ruled out. This suggestion is fueled by the mere existence of a prior partnership with display manufacturer AU Optronics. Operating the device will almost certainly require the touchscreen, as the physical controls alone are unlikely to offer a comprehensive user interface. The photo does clearly indicate that heart rate monitoring is a supported feature, confirming the presence of an optical sensor on the device.

Anticipated Performance and Audience

In terms of processing power, TAG Heuer will probably equip the Calibre Connected E5 with a modern System-on-Chip (SoC). A top contender is the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2, which would position the watch at the forefront of wearable technology. If this chip is indeed used, the device would likely boast support for, or at least the foundational capability for, satellite communication. However, despite the advanced internal hardware, the Tag Heuer Connected Calibre E5 is expected to continue targeting a distinct, fashion-conscious audience in addition to fitness enthusiasts, blending high-tech features with luxury aesthetics.

  1. Incorrect about a rotating bezel. It has nothing of the sort. It incorporates TAG Heuer OS designed in house. And it is the only Smartwatch with Apple certification apart from Apple watch.
