Zepp Health has rolled out a new feature within its iOS app, allowing users to design and directly transfer running and hiking routes to their Amazfit watch. This update arrived with version 9.12.1 of the Zepp Health smartphone app, offering a more convenient way to prepare for outdoor activities.

The new route planning tool is integrated into the workout section of the app. By tapping a new “Create Route” button, users can access an interactive map to plot a path. As you tap points along roads or trails, the app automatically calculates and displays the total distance, elevation gain, and descent. This real-time feedback helps you visualize the challenges of the route before you even head out the door.
Enhanced Planning for Your Runs and Hikes

The ability to see an elevation profile while creating a route can be a huge benefit, helping you avoid unexpected climbs or descents. While the current functionality is straightforward, it hints at future potential for deeper integration with Zepp Health’s existing metrics, such as PAI, VO2 Max, or workout load. This could lead to a more comprehensive training framework, but any further developments are still speculative.
Once a route is saved, you can easily send it to your device with a single tap. The app will then download the necessary map data for the area, ensuring you can follow the route on your watch without needing a mobile connection. This simplified process removes a significant hurdle for users who might have previously found route syncing cumbersome.
What’s Next for the Zepp Health Platform?
While Amazfit watches have long supported route navigation from imported files, this update improves the user experience by bringing the entire process into the Zepp Health app. It makes planning a route more accessible and convenient. The feature appears to be designed primarily for road use, but it lays the groundwork for a potentially more robust navigation experience.
Currently, this new tool has only been confirmed on the iOS version of the app. It has not yet been made available on Android. This release could be a precursor to a larger announcement, as Zepp Health has a launch event scheduled for September 5th. The addition of this feature, along with general stability improvements noted in the changelog, suggests the company is building a more complete and user-friendly platform.
