Oppo Watch S2 Leaks Early With FatMax Tracking, ECG, and 10-Day Battery

Oppo is getting ready to reveal its brand-new smartwatch, the OPPO Watch S2, on September 22 in China. Even though the official launch is still a few days away, the watch has already popped up in early hands-on previews and event materials.

At the same time, tech sleuths have spotted mentions of another mysterious model—the OPPO Watch 5—showing up in international regulatory databases, though it remains completely unclear if it will launch alongside the Watch S2 or arrive later down the road.

A Familiar, Slim Design

If you liked the look of the older OPPO Watch S, the new Watch S2 keeps things very similar. It sticks with a clean, circular design featuring a physical crown and a secondary button on the right side of the case.

The watch stays remarkably thin at just 8.9mm, and it is slightly lighter than before, weighing 34.4g without the strap. Oppo is launching it in three distinct colors:

  • Mountain Shadow Grey

  • Vibrant Orange

  • Misty Pink

It also comes with a fresh, segmented sports strap built to wrap more comfortably around your wrist. On the front, you get a sharp 1.46-inch AMOLED display with a 464 x 464 resolution. It hits 600 nits of normal brightness, but can push all the way up to 1,500 nits outdoors and a blazing 3,000 nits during certain workout modes. Plus, it has 5ATM water resistance with wet-touch support.

Introducing “FatMax” Workout Guidance

The biggest new addition under the hood is a feature called FatMax. Instead of just showing standard calories burned or general heart rate zones, this tool calculates the specific intensity level where your body burns fat at its maximum rate.

Using your personal details like age, height, weight, and past activity, the watch creates a custom target range. While you work out, it gives you audio, visual, and vibration cues to keep you right in that fat-burning sweet spot. When you finish, it estimates the exact amount of fat burned in grams rather than just giving you a generic energy total. This works across more than 16 sports modes, including running and cycling.

Strength fans get some love too. The watch can automatically recognize over 65 strength exercises, count your reps, remind you to rest, and map out your muscle activation afterward.

Health Tracking and Smart Features

The Watch S2 brings a solid lineup of health sensors, including an ECG, continuous heart rate tracking, blood oxygen (SpO2), and wrist temperature monitoring. Taking an ECG takes about 30 seconds using the electrode built into the side button, and the software can check for signs of irregular heart rhythms or sleep apnea risks.

Other handy tricks include:

  • Dual-Phone Connectivity: You can keep the watch paired to two phones at once (like two Androids, or an Android and an iPhone) to catch notifications from both.

  • Remote Camera Control: You can preview your phone’s camera right on your wrist, zoom in, set a timer, or snap a photo using a simple pinch gesture.

  • Solid Battery Life: Powered by a 330mAh battery, the watch is rated for about 7 days of normal use, stretching up to 10 days with lighter usage, or around 4 days if you keep the always-on display turned on.

What About the OPPO Watch 5?

While the spotlight is clearly on the upcoming Watch S2, things are getting interesting behind the scenes. Recent international regulatory filings have surfaced mentioning a completely different watch called the OPPO Watch 5.

Right now, details are scarce. It is still a complete mystery whether OPPO plans to surprise everyone by showing it alongside the Watch S2 or if it is a separate device scheduled to drop later this year. For now, all eyes are locked on the official September 22 event to see what else OPPO has hiding up its sleeve.
