Google Health 5.12: Blood Pressure Tracking, Pregnancy Features, and Bug Fixes

Google is pushing a major new update for the Google Health app. Version 5.12 is currently rolling out to users on both Android and iOS. Because Google usually releases updates in phases over a few days, you might not see it on your phone right away.

This new version brings several helpful features and fixes to make tracking your daily health much easier.

Better Blood Pressure and Glucose Tracking

One of the biggest changes in this update is how you handle blood pressure and blood sugar.

For blood pressure, you can now type in your numbers manually or sync them automatically from other apps like Apple Health or Health Connect. These readings will show up neatly under the Heart section of the app, and premium users can even log them just by chatting with the Google Health Coach.

For glucose tracking, Google added a new overlay to your charts. This lets you see your logged food, exercise, and sleep right on top of your glucose graph so you can easily spot patterns. You can even add new events directly from the graph screen.

Fixes for Resilience Scores

Many users noticed a frustrating bug in older versions where their Resilience scores were dropping too low. Google says this update fixes that problem. Your future scores will be calculated correctly, and the app will soon update your old, incorrect scores.

Syncing Lab Data and Pregnancy Support

The 5.12 update also brings better medical record support. You can now sync your laboratory test results directly from Function Health by searching for them during the medical records setup.

Additionally, if you log a pregnancy in the app, it will pause your normal cycle tracking and predictions. The tracking page will change to show your current week of pregnancy instead, and premium subscribers will get helpful tips tailored to their journey.

Smarter Food Logging and Fitness Plans

Managing your diet and workouts is also getting a small upgrade. The app will now group food items together if you log them within a 60-minute window, making it simpler to see what you ate.

Finally, if you use fitness plans, you can now check simple progress summaries in the Fitness tab to see how close you are to reaching your goals.
