Just days after I was the first to spot the Oura Ring 5 in FCC and IMDA regulatory listings, we finally have the full picture. While early documents pointed to a late summer or September launch, a massive new leak has completely changed the timeline. The smart ring is coming much sooner than anyone expected—and it’s bringing a higher price tag.
According to a report from Dealabs, the Oura Ring 5 will officially debut this Thursday, May 28. Buyers won’t have to wait long to get it on their fingers either, as shipping is expected to start on June 4.
However, the new hardware comes with a price bump. The entry-level silver and black versions are reportedly priced at $399 (€429). That is a $50 jump from the Oura Ring 4, which started at $349. If you want the more premium finishes—like brushed silver, matte black, gold, or rose gold—the price climbs to $499 (€529).
What Are You Paying For? Four Big Changes
Oura is justifying the price hike with four major hardware and software upgrades:
-
A Thinner, Comfy Design: The ring is getting slimmer. Oura has managed to reduce the bulk of the body, making it much more comfortable to wear all day and night.
-
Larger, More Accurate Sensors: Even though the ring is thinner, the internal sensors are actually bigger. This upgrade means users will get more precise readings for heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and skin temperature.
-
Longer Battery Life: Instead of the usual five days of battery life seen on older models, the Oura Ring 5 bumps that up to a full seven days on a single charge.
-
Smart AI Recommendations: The biggest software addition is an upgraded “Oura Advisor.” This built-in AI will study your personal biometric data to give you direct advice on how to fix your sleep schedule or improve your daily fitness.
In total, the device will track over 50 health metrics—ranging from stress and sleep stages to activity tracking and menstrual cycles. It will also link up with more than 40 popular fitness apps, including Strava.
With the official reveal just days away, early buyers will need to decide if the sleeker design and AI upgrades are worth the extra $50.
