A slip-up in official paperwork has given tech fans an early look at Suunto’s next wearable. The upcoming Suunto Run 2 smartwatch was spotted in official regulatory documents submitted to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States, revealing photos of both the watch and its retail box.
Here is a simple breakdown of what was leaked and what you can expect from the new running watch.
How the Leak Happened
Before any tech company can sell a wireless device in the United States, it must get approval from the FCC. Companies usually ask the agency to keep photos and manuals secret until the product is officially announced.
However, Suunto included photos of the watch and its retail box in documents that were not covered by the privacy request. As a result, the public got an early glimpse at the product long before its official launch party.
Familiar Design with Practical Tweaks
Looking at the photos, the Suunto Run 2 does not completely change the overall look of its predecessor. It keeps a round screen surrounded by fairly thick borders (bezels).
To protect the glass display from accidental bumps during workouts, the outer frame sits slightly higher than the screen. The classic Suunto logo is printed along the bottom rim. On the right side of the watch case, you will find a digital turning crown along with two extra push buttons. The watch also comes with standard removable watch straps and includes a soft silicone sports wristband in the box.
Wireless Features and What Is Missing

The leaked packaging confirms that the smartwatch will work smoothly with both Apple iPhones and Android devices. Additionally, the box displays the European CE certification mark, which means Suunto plans to launch the device across Europe alongside its U.S. release.
Expected Release Date
The original Suunto Run launched back in May 2025 as a budget-friendly option for runners. While Suunto has not shared an official release date or pricing details for the Suunto Run 2 yet, products usually hit store shelves within a few months of appearing in FCC listings.
