For a long time, if you used an iPhone, wearing a non-Apple smartwatch meant you could only look at your notifications. You could see who texted you, but you could not reply or do anything else without taking your phone out of your pocket.
Now, things are starting to shift. Zepp Health is rolling out a new software update for select Amazfit smartwatches. This update finally brings interactive notification features to iPhone users, making your watch much more useful.
What Can Your Watch Do Now?
Instead of just reading text on a screen, you can now take action directly from your wrist.
-
Send Quick Replies: You can type or send fast replies to incoming messages from apps like WhatsApp without touching your phone.
-
Take Actions: You can mark messages as read, call people back, or trigger other quick app options.
-
View Pictures: If someone sends a photo or if your smart security camera detects motion at your front door, you can see a direct image preview right on your watch screen.
Who Gets the Update First?
Right now, this new feature is in a testing or beta phase. It is only working on a few specific watch models:
-
Amazfit Cheetah 2 Ultra
-
Amazfit Balance Ultra
-
Amazfit Balance 3
More watches will get this support soon. Models like the Cheetah 2 Pro, T-Rex 3, T-Rex 3 Pro, Bip Max, and Active 3 Premium are next in line for the update.
Why Is This Only in Europe?
There is one big catch right now. This feature is currently only available for users living in the European Union.
This is happening because of the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) rules. These rules force Apple to open up its software and let third-party devices connect more deeply with iOS. Because of this law, companies like Amazfit finally get the access they need. Right now, it is not clear if or when Apple will allow this kind of deep access for users outside of the EU.
