The wearables market moves fast, but sometimes it feels like brands are just running in place. OnePlus recently pulled the curtain back on the OnePlus Watch 4, and after the initial excitement of seeing “Titanium” in the headline, a quick look at the spec sheet tells a much more frustrating story.
As someone who closely follows every smartwatch release, I’m finding it increasingly hard to justify the “new” label on this one. If you were expecting a massive leap forward in power or endurance, you might want to keep your wallet closed for a bit.

The Problem: Same Brains, Same Stamina
The biggest letdown here is the internal architecture. OnePlus is still using the Snapdragon W5 paired with a BES efficiency chip. While this was an industry-leading setup when the Watch 3 launched, seeing the exact same silicon in 2026 feels lazy. We are seeing more demanding apps and deeper AI integration, yet the “engine” hasn’t been upgraded to handle the future.
The same goes for the battery life. OnePlus is touting 100 hours (5 days) of battery life in Smart Mode. Sound familiar? That’s because it’s the same rating we saw on the Watch 3. While 5 days is better than a standard Apple Watch or Pixel Watch, the “Watch 4” moniker implies progress. Instead, we’re getting the same endurance in a slightly more expensive-looking shell.
Design: A Premium Mask for Familiar Tech
The move to an all-titanium body is undeniably nice. It’s 13% lighter and 6% thinner, which does make a difference in daily comfort. The “Evergreen Titanium” and “Midnight Titanium” finishes look fantastic and the MIL-STD-810H durability is great for peace of mind.
But here’s the thing: Does a slightly lighter case justify an upgrade if the heart of the watch hasn’t changed? In my opinion, no. We are essentially paying for a “Pro” chassis upgrade while the performance remains stagnant.

Why This is Disappointing
In my view, the Watch 4 feels more like a “OnePlus Watch 3 Titanium Edition” rather than a true successor. The software features, like the 60s Wellness Overview and Google Gemini integration, are great, but many of these are optimizations that could (and in some cases, already do) run on the older hardware.
When a brand moves to a new generation, I expect to see a jump in processing efficiency or a breakthrough in battery tech. By sticking with the Snapdragon W5, OnePlus is essentially saying they’ve hit a ceiling.
My Final Take
If you are coming from a much older watch or the original OnePlus Watch 2, the Watch 4 is a beautiful, capable device. But if you already have the Watch 3 on your wrist, there is almost zero reason to upgrade. You are getting the same speed, the same screen, and the same battery life, just wrapped in a slightly fancier metal.
OnePlus makes some of my favorite tech, but I can’t ignore when a “new” product feels like a re-release. Titanium is cool, but it isn’t enough to hide the fact that the internals are stuck in last year.
