The legal fight between smart ring giants is heating up once again. Oura has filed a brand new patent infringement lawsuit against its competitor, Ultrahuman. This time, Oura is targeting the newly redesigned Ultrahuman Ring Pro, hoping to completely block its sales in the United States.

The two companies have a history of fighting over technology. Last year, an international trade ruling led to an import ban on Ultrahuman’s older ring. After that setback, Ultrahuman changed the design, got customs approval, and brought the new Ring Pro to the US market. However, Oura claims that this new version still relies heavily on its protected technology.

What Oura Is Claiming in the Lawsuit

Oura filed its latest complaint in a federal court located in Texas. The company states that the Ultrahuman Ring Pro violates two specific patents. One focuses on the physical look of the ring, while the other covers internal hardware pieces like the curved battery, charging magnets, circuit board layout, and motion sensors.

Interestingly, one of the utility patents used in this lawsuit was officially granted to Oura just two days before they filed the case. Along with Ultrahuman, Oura also named a Texas-based electronics manufacturer called SVTronics as a co-defendant, accusing them of helping build the rings locally. Oura is asking the court for financial damages and a permanent block on all US sales.

Ultrahuman’s Response and the Future of Smart Rings

Oura believes that simply changing a few parts of a device is not enough to avoid copyright and patent rules. An Oura representative stated that a redesign that keeps the core technology intact is still copying someone else’s hard work.

On the other side, Ultrahuman is not backing down easily. The company plans to defend its product strongly, and for now, the Ring Pro remains available for purchase while the legal battle plays out in court. This ongoing rivalry highlights how competitive the smart ring market has become as more brands fight for consumer attention and health-tracking dominance.
