Amazfit has officially released a significant software upgrade for its premier rugged wearable, the T-Rex Ultra 2. Moving from the initial launch software to firmware version 4.6.5.2, this update transforms the flagship device into a much more capable companion for both competitive athletes and leisure sports enthusiasts.

A New Digital Caddy for the Wrist

The standout addition in this firmware cycle is the dedicated Golf Mode. This feature turns the rugged smartwatch into a comprehensive rangefinder, offering access to a database of over 40,000 golf courses across the globe.

Golfers can now view precise distances to the front, center, and back of the green directly from their wrist. The update also includes hazard tracking and a digital scorecard, allowing players to leave their phones in the bag and focus entirely on their swing.

Professional-Grade Running Metrics

For endurance athletes, Amazfit has introduced Lactate Threshold training. This sophisticated metric is now captured automatically during specific workout types, such as Track Running and Outdoor Running. By analyzing physiological data during these high-intensity sessions, the watch helps runners identify the exact point where fatigue begins to accelerate, allowing for more scientifically backed training plans and better pacing during races.

Refined Connectivity and Location Tracking

Beyond sports-specific modes, version 4.6.5.2 introduces several quality-of-life improvements:

  • Bluetooth Alerts: Users can now toggle a “Disconnection Reminder” under the system settings. This optional notification alerts the wearer if the link between their phone and watch is severed.

  • Enhanced POIs: When saving locations or “Points of Interest” during an outdoor trek, users now have access to a wider variety of icon types, making it easier to categorize and identify saved spots on a map.

Intelligent Sleep and Health Optimization

Amazfit continues to refine its biometric accuracy by overhauling the device’s sleep algorithm. The updated logic is designed to more accurately distinguish between various sleep stages—REM, Light, and Deep sleep—providing a clearer picture of overnight recovery.

Availability and Rollout

The update is currently being distributed via the Zepp app. As is standard with Amazfit releases, the rollout is occurring in waves. Users in North America and China are typically the first to see the update notification, with a wider release to European and global markets expected to follow shortly.
