Amazfit has rolled out a fresh update for its companion app, Zepp (version 10.8.0). The new update brings several useful features for fitness fans and music lovers, along with subtle redesigns. However, it also comes with a couple of bugs you should know about before hitting the update.
Here is a breakdown of what changed, what works, and what doesn’t.
1. Better Features for HYROX Athletes
If you train for HYROX events, Amazfit is making the app much more useful for you:
-
Race Center Added: A dedicated space on the home tab lets you track, manage, and add live, upcoming, or past races.
-
Expanded Options: The app now gives better tracking features specifically tailored to intense HYROX workout sessions.
2. Updated “Life Load” & Daily Reminders
Tracking your daily physical and mental load is getting more personalized:
-
Custom Input Methods: You can now set your preferred way to log entry data—choose between voice input, text chat, manual typing, or default to your last used method.
-
Morning & Evening Alerts: Set custom reminders (“Morning Impulse” and “Evening Push”) to prompt you to log your daily load data at fixed times.
-
Pinning Items: You can toggle switches to pin your most frequent daily events directly to the main screen.
3. Custom Music Playlists (Finally!)
One of the best updates in version 10.8.0 is for users who store music on their watch:
-
Create Playlists directly: You are no longer restricted to default playlists like “Favorites” or “Running Music.” You can create, name, and manage custom playlists in the app, which sync straight to your watch.
-
Better Song Management: Track which songs are downloaded to your watch, pick specific playlists for new transfers, and easily delete custom playlists.
4. Setting & Layout Adjustments
-
Heart Rate Zones Moved: The Heart Rate Zones setting has been removed from the general settings/workout tabs. It now lives strictly under Device Settings.
-
Call Notification Controls: You can now turn on silent call alerts during workouts or when the watch is off your wrist—preventing unexpected ringers while exercising.
-
UI Refresh: Toggles in the phone call section have a new visual look, and the old “Help & Support” tab was renamed to FAQ.
-
Developer Mode Clean-up: The developer menu has redesigned icons and a cleaner categorized list for device information (display resolution, API level, battery status, serial numbers, MAC addresses).
Important Bugs to Keep in Mind
While the update adds solid features, version 10.8.0 currently has two notable bugs:
-
Zepp Pay Crashing: Opening the Zepp Pay menu can cause the app to crash and close immediately.
-
Broken QR Code Scanner in Developer Mode: Trying to install custom watch faces or third-party app packages by scanning a QR code results in an error message. Neither camera scanning nor loading images from your gallery works right now.
Should You Update?
If you rely heavily on custom playlists and HYROX tracking, the update offers clear benefits. However, if you regularly use Zepp Pay or install custom watch faces via developer mode QR codes, you might want to wait for a quick hotfix patch from Amazfit.
