Suunto Race 3 and Race 3S Leaked: Here is What We Know

Suunto seems ready to refresh its sports watch lineup. Early details about two new devices—the Suunto Race 3 and the smaller Suunto Race 3 S—recently popped up online, giving fans a clear look at what to expect from the next generation of running watches.

Big Changes Coming to Suunto’s Next Smartwatch Lineup

The leak first surfaced when a Reddit user spotted brief details in Google search results linked to Suunto’s official website. Additional evidence found by tech site Gadgets and Wearables suggests that Suunto is preparing for an official launch later in 2026.

This update comes roughly a year after the Suunto Race 2 hit stores, showing that the company is sticking to a rapid development cycle for its high-performance sports watches.

Two Sizes, Two Very Different Screen Choices

Both new models will sport bright, colorful AMOLED displays, but Suunto is taking a surprisingly different design approach for each size:

  • Suunto Race 3 S: The smaller variant features a 1.32-inch display protected by scratch-resistant sapphire glass, making it durable despite its compact frame.

  • Suunto Race 3: The larger model steps up to a 1.5-inch display, but uses standard mineral glass instead of sapphire. Suunto appears to be trading premium glass for a lower price point and maximum battery performance on this model.

Both watches are also expected to include dual-band GPS for accurate location tracking during outdoor workouts.

A Smarter AI Coach (With a Catch)

Beyond physical hardware, Suunto is placing heavy focus on software features. The leak reveals a new, interactive Suunto AI Coach designed to give tailored athletic advice.

Unlike simple stat trackers, the AI chatbot can:

  • Answer specific questions about when you should schedule rest or workout days.

  • Suggest the most effective exercises for your current fitness level.

  • Explain how changes in your sleep quality and recovery impact your training goals.

However, there is a catch. While the current Suunto Coach software is free, this new interactive AI system will eventually require a paid subscription. Buyers will receive a three-month free trial with their watch, after which they will need to pay a recurring fee to keep using the advanced coaching features.
