Amazfit is pushing out a significant firmware update, version 4.1.5.1 in China and 4.1.6.9 in UK, to its robust T-Rex 3 smartwatch. This isn’t just a minor patch; it’s a monumental upgrade that completely transforms the user experience, spearheaded by the move to the advanced Zepp OS 5. Users can anticipate a vastly improved interface with a brand-new UI visual, animation, and interactive system, promising a smoother, more fluid, and natural system experience that enhances daily operation. This core operating system change sets the stage for all the subsequent feature enhancements.

Enhanced Sports Tracking and Outdoor Capabilities

The T-Rex 3, known for its ruggedness, is becoming an even more capable outdoor companion with several key additions to its fitness tracking suite. A major highlight is the introduction of two specialized sports modes: Weighted Hiking and Mountain Climbing. Weighted Hiking now allows for the recording of weight information, making exercise data more accurate for those carrying packs or gear in outdoor carrying scenarios. Similarly, Mountain Climbing supports the recording of crucial metrics such as altitude and distance specific to ascending exercises. Furthermore, users can now set weight settings for trail running, outdoor hiking, mountain climbing, and hill climbing, ensuring exercise records closely reflect the actual intensity of the workout.

Navigation and Data Integration Upgrades

Navigation and professional data acquisition receive a massive boost in this update. Support for terrain map pages and route navigation has been expanded to encompass more high-intensity and adventurous sports, including driving, kitesurfing, and skydiving, making the watch highly suitable for diverse outdoor scenarios. The existing route navigation feature now includes uphill reminders, a useful tool to keep the user informed about incline changes during their journey. For serious runners, the T-Rex 3 now offers Stryd Pod Support. Once bound and launched, this integration allows running and walking activities to leverage Stryd’s professional data for deeper performance insights.

Improved Accessibility and User Experience Features

Several quality-of-life and accessibility features have been integrated to make using the T-Rex 3 more comfortable and convenient. Users can now select their preferred system font size (found under System Settings > Accessibility > Font Size) for more comfortable reading on the watch face. The existing “Body Battery” function has been completely superseded by a new dedicated “Body Battery” app, centralizing this key wellness metric. For better communication management, the Notification Center on Android phones now allows users to zoom in on images within notifications for easier message viewing.

New System Tools and Wellness Management

The firmware introduces several new system tools to improve efficiency and health management. A new “Time Zone Manager” helps users effortlessly cope with time zone changes, a boon for frequent travelers. Sleep management sees an improvement with the addition of functions for deleting and editing nap records, offering more flexible control over sleep data. The One-click Measurement app has been upgraded significantly to support multiple consecutive measurements and even measurements taken during sleep. Finally, a handy screenshot function is added—simply press SEL + DOWN simultaneously to capture the current screen and automatically save it to the paired phone’s photo album.

Stability and Rollout Details

As is standard with major updates, this release also includes essential maintenance: known issues have been fixed, and the system’s overall stability and smoothness have been further improved. This significant update is being rolled out in phases. While some users in China and UK have already started receiving it, users across the US, Europe, Asia, and Africa can expect to see the update arrive on their devices in the coming days.
