Suunto Run 2, Race 3, and Race 3S Revealed in Filings as Global Launch Nears

Suunto appears to be getting ready to release a brand-new lineup of sports watches. According to a report by WearableFans, three upcoming models—the Suunto Run 2, Suunto Race 3, and Suunto Race 3S—have recently been approved by official regulatory authorities in the United Arab Emirates.

These regulatory listings are usually one of the final steps a tech company takes before launching a product globally. With these approvals now official, an announcement from the Finnish brand could happen very soon.

What the New Filings Reveal

The devices were spotted in the public database of the UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA). The filings list all three models under the category of outdoor watches, registered through a local regional distributor:

  • Suunto Run 2 (Model Number: OW261)

  • Suunto Race 3 (Model Number: OW265)

  • Suunto Race 3S (Model Number: OW266)

These listings build on a trail of regulatory approvals that have been trickling in over the past few weeks.

Putting the Pieces Together

This isn’t the first time these specific devices have popped up in database searches. The Suunto Run 2 (model OW261) was previously spotted passing through the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) testing process. Meanwhile, the names for the flagship Suunto Race 3 and the smaller or sportier Race 3S were recently confirmed via certification records in Malaysia’s SIRIM database.

Seeing all three devices clear regulatory hurdles in multiple regions confirms that Suunto is preparing a synchronized rollout across global markets.

What to Expect From the New Models

While regulatory databases rarely share deep technical specifications, the naming structure gives us a clear idea of what to expect:

  • Suunto Run 2: Positioned as the successor to Suunto’s entry-level running watch line, likely focusing on core GPS tracking, lightweight design, and essential training metrics for runners.

  • Suunto Race 3 & Race 3S: Expected to represent the brand’s performance-focused flagship line. The “S” designation typically indicates a smaller case size or lighter build for athletes with slimmer wrists. These models will likely feature vibrant AMOLED displays, advanced navigation, and extended battery life for endurance sports.

With regulatory certifications out of the way in North America, Asia, and the Middle East, Suunto is expected to formally unveil the new watch series in the near future.
