Amazfit is addressing customer feedback with a commitment to update the T-Rex 3 smartwatch. The company recently confirmed that a new feature called BioCharge will be added to the device, alongside other potential upgrades. This news comes after some users of the T-Rex 3 expressed concern following the release of the T-Rex 3 Pro, feeling they might be forced to upgrade to the newer model.

Clarifying the T-Rex 3 Pro’s Place in the Lineup

An Amazfit representative clarified the brand’s strategy in a recent Reddit comment. They explained that the T-Rex 3 Pro, while offering several enhancements, is an addition to the current lineup, not a replacement for it. This confirms that the original T-Rex 3, released in September 2024, will remain part of Amazfit’s active product range. The representative also highlighted that both the T-Rex 3 and the T-Rex 3 Pro share the same BioTracker 6.0 health sensor.

BioCharge and Other Exciting Updates

The most significant update is the confirmed arrival of the BioCharge energy level monitoring feature for the T-Rex 3. This feature, which was first introduced with the Helio Strap and is also on the T-Rex 3 Pro, analyzes your physical and mental energy levels. While Amazfit has confirmed the feature is coming, they haven’t provided a specific release date, noting that it requires additional testing. Despite having similar hardware, the company emphasized that bringing new features to an existing device is a complex process.

Looking ahead, Amazfit also hinted at other potential upgrades. Support for scuba diving is being considered, though it also requires further testing before a rollout is possible. Additionally, the advanced route planning feature, which allows users to map their trails directly on the watch and was a major highlight of the T-Rex 3 Pro, is also expected to be pushed to the older wearable at some point. Like the other updates, no timeline has been set.

Amazfit typically supports its smartwatches with software updates for at least two years after release. This means T-Rex 3 users can look forward to new features and improvements until at least September 2026.
