Everything We Know About the Suunto Run 2: Specs, Price, and Upgrades

0

It looks like Suunto’s worst-kept secret is out.

First, regulatory filings at the FCC gave us a paper trail. Then, early hands-on unboxing photos surfaced on Xiaohongshu (RED), revealing the full retail box, hardware tweaks, and color choices. Shortly after, Suunto accidentally published an official listing for the Suunto Run 2 All Black on its store page before pulling it down to a 404 error.

Though the page is offline, search indexes and early leaks caught almost everything. Ahead of the official September 8 launch, here is a complete breakdown of what to expect from the Suunto Run 2.

Design and Display

Suunto maintained the lightweight design from the original model while making significant upgrades to durability and outdoor visibility.

  • Featherweight Build: The watch retains a 46 mm case size (46.5 x 46.5 x 11.66 mm) and weighs 35 grams. The main body uses glass fiber-reinforced polyamide, paired with a stainless steel bezel and a Corning Gorilla Glass lens.

  • Ultra-Bright Display: The watch features a 1.32-inch LTPS AMOLED screen (466 x 466 resolution) capable of reaching 2,000 nits of peak brightness—a massive step up from the 600 nits on the first-generation Suunto Run.

  • Controls & Colors: Physical navigation includes a digital crown and two push buttons alongside full touchscreen support. Launch colors include Obsidian Black, Turquoise Green, and Moon Frost White, all shipping with a standard 22 mm silicone strap.

Health and GPS Tracking

  • 12-Channel Heart Rate Sensor: Positioned behind 2.5D curved glass, the new 12-channel optical wrist sensor is built to deliver accurate tracking during rapid interval runs and high-heat training.

  • Dual-Band GNSS Navigation: The Run 2 supports dual-frequency (L1+L5) positioning across 5 major satellite systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS), keeping location tracking and pace steady even in covered areas.

  • Offline Maps & Storage: The base edition includes offline maps with 4 GB of internal storage for local MP3 music, while a high-capacity variant is listed with up to 64 GB of storage.

What’s in the Box?

Unboxing leaks confirm the watch arrives in eco-friendly cardboard packaging with a tamper-evident tear strip. Inside, buyers get:

  1. The Suunto Run 2 smartwatch with 22 mm silicone strap (S/M sizing).

  2. Magnetic USB-C charging cable.

  3. Quick start guide and safety information.

  4. Suunto brand sticker set.

Official Pricing: €299 Launch Price

According to the prematurely published listing on Suunto’s official site, the Suunto Run 2 starts at €299 to €349.

This price point represents a significant jump from the first-generation Suunto Run (which debuted at €249), signaling that Suunto is upgrading the “Run” line from an entry-level watch to a fully featured mid-range sports watch.
