Finally: Seamless Contactless Payments Arrive on Huawei Watch GT 5, 5, GT 6, Ultimate 2, and Fit 4 Series

Huawei has officially expanded the contactless payment capabilities of its latest wearable lineup in Europe, introducing a significantly more versatile solution for users. By integrating Curve Pay support, owners of the newest Huawei smartwatches can now enjoy a payment experience that closely rivals established services like Apple Pay and Google Pay.

A Major Upgrade Over Previous Payment Methods

Prior to this update, Huawei users in the European market were largely dependent on Quicko for NFC transactions. While functional, Quicko presented several hurdles that hindered daily use. Users were required to manually top up a prepaid balance, and the service faced inconsistent acceptance across various retail chains.

The shift to Curve Pay eliminates these friction points. Instead of managing a separate digital wallet balance, users can link their existing debit and credit cards directly to the service, allowing for a seamless “pass-through” payment process at checkout.

Which Huawei Wearables Are Compatible?

The rollout of Curve Pay support covers a wide range of recently released and upcoming Huawei devices. The following models are confirmed to support the new NFC payment functionality:

  • Huawei Watch Ultimate 2

  • Huawei Watch GT 6

  • Huawei Watch GT 5

  • Huawei Watch 5

  • Huawei Watch GT Runner 2

  • Huawei Watch Fit 4

Streamlined Setup and Enhanced Functionality

Getting started involves downloading the Curve app via the Huawei AppGallery (or through the Apple App Store and Google Play for initial account configuration). Once the account is linked to the wearable, users can manage their cards via an integrated “smart wallet” directly on the watch. This allows for quick switching between different payment methods without needing to reach for a smartphone.

Beyond simple retail transactions, Curve Pay also enables cash withdrawals at supported ATMs. While the standard service is free to use, Curve offers optional subscription tiers for power users looking for increased cashback rewards and higher limits for fee-free international spending.

Seamless Contactless Experience

The integration ensures that the hardware’s built-in NFC chip is utilized efficiently. By moving away from the restrictive prepaid model, Huawei has addressed one of the most common critiques of its wearable ecosystem in the West, making its high-end watches a much more viable choice for tech-focused consumers who prioritize mobile payments.
