Polar has just released a major update for six of its popular sports watches. If you own a Vantage V3, Vantage M3, Grit X2 Pro, Grit X2, Ignite 3, or Street X, your watch is getting a lot of new features.
Unlike small updates that only fix hidden bugs, firmware version 6.0.18 actually changes how you interact with your device every day. It adds helpful trend graphs, gives you more freedom with your watch buttons, and even helps protect your battery over time.
See More Health and Training Data Right on Your Wrist
One of the best parts of this update is that you no longer need to pull out your phone for every little detail. Polar has added seven-day trend graphs directly onto the watch screen.
You can now check your weekly history for Nightly Recharge, ANS charge, sleep quality, breathing rate, and overnight heart rate or HRV. Runners will also love seeing a graph of their last seven Running Index results, and you can track your recent weight measurements and ECG test results right from your wrist.
Take Better Control of Your Watch Buttons
Physical buttons are getting a serious upgrade on models like the Vantage V3, Vantage M3, Grit X2, and Grit X2 Pro. You can now change what the old LIGHT button does during everyday use, and then assign a completely different shortcut for specific sports when you start a workout.
The newer Street X model gets this perk too, making it super easy to turn on the built-in flashlight or launch your favorite feature with a single tap. Plus, Polar cleaned up the pre-training screen so you can clearly see which external heart-rate sensor is connected before you head out.
Adjust Sport Settings Without Opening the Flow App
Changing your sport profiles used to mean opening up the Polar Flow app on your phone. Not anymore!
With the new firmware, you can tweak your sport settings straight from the watch’s main settings menu, right before you start training, or even while your workout is paused. Polar also gave the menus a fresh visual coat of paint with better colors, smoother animations, and Timers moved directly into the pre-training mode.
Protect Your Battery Life with an 80% Charge Limit
Lithium-ion batteries love a little extra care, and Polar is finally catching up to phones and laptops by adding an 80% charge limit option.
If you usually sit at a desk or don’t need your watch to run at absolute maximum capacity every single day, you can turn on this setting to stop charging at 80 percent. This simple trick helps reduce long-term battery wear and keeps your watch healthy for years to come.
Smarter Tracking and Better Heart-Rate Accuracy
Under the hood, Polar has updated its optical heart-rate algorithm. The company says this change reduces annoying heart-rate dropouts during intense workouts, sleep, and daily wear, while also improving accuracy across different skin types.
You can also enjoy custom backgrounds for digital watch faces and quicker weight entry from the drop-down menu. Whether you are tracking a casual morning jog or a long weekend hike, firmware 6.0.18 makes your Polar watch feel fresh, fast, and much more useful every day.
