Amazfit has officially begun the phased rollout of firmware version 4.6.5.2 for its rugged flagship wearables, the T-Rex 3 and T-Rex 3 Pro. This latest software enhancement focuses heavily on performance tracking for endurance athletes, while simultaneously refining the mapping and connectivity features that outdoor enthusiasts rely on.
Pro-Level Athletic Insights: Lactate Threshold Detection
The headline feature of this update is the introduction of automatic lactate threshold detection. Specifically designed for the Outdoor Running and Track Run profiles, the watch can now identify the point at which fatigue begins to accelerate during a workout. For those who prefer a structured assessment, a manual diagnostic can be found under the “Training” settings within the activity menu.
Smarter Exploration with “Return to Start” Navigation
Navigating the wilderness just got safer. Users engaged in Running, Walking, or Cycling activities can now generate a dedicated route back to their original departure point in real-time. Unlike a simple “as the crow flies” pointer, this Route Navigation feature guides you along a specific path, accessible directly through the navigation sub-menu during an active session.
Maximum Visibility: New 8-Field Data Layouts
For the data-hungry athlete, the T-Rex 3 series now offers significantly more flexibility in how information is displayed. The update introduces high-density layouts that support 7 or 8 data fields on a single screen. This allows users to monitor heart rate, pace, elevation, and distance simultaneously without having to scroll through multiple pages mid-stride.
Connectivity and Location Management Upgrades
To ensure you never leave your phone behind, Amazfit has added a Bluetooth Disconnection Alert. While this is disabled by default to save battery, it can be toggled on within the Bluetooth settings. Additionally, when saving Waypoints or location points on the fly, users now have access to a wider library of icons to better categorize their discoveries.
Refined Intelligence and Map Optimization
Beyond new features, version 4.6.5.2 brings several “under the hood” improvements:
-
Sleep Tracking: The sleep algorithm has been retuned for better accuracy in detecting rest cycles.
-
Enhanced Mapping: Map versions have been updated for a smoother visual experience and more intuitive route creation (updateable via the Zepp App).
-
Contour Lines: Topographic displays are now sharper and easier to read.
-
Rerouting Logic: For those using location-point navigation, the “off-course” trigger for automatic recalculation is now set to 100 meters (330 feet).
Availability and Rollout Schedule
As is standard with Amazfit releases, this firmware is being deployed in stages. If the update notification hasn’t appeared on your T-Rex 3 or Pro yet, it should become available within the next few days. Users are encouraged to sync with the Zepp App frequently to check for the latest download.
